Starting Ketogenic Diet- 3 Steps Before you Go Keto!

3 Steps Before you Start a Ketogenic Diet

I kept running into the same issues with clients as they would try to adopt a Keto Diet. What it boils down to is that, most people, not all, are not ready to jump straight into a Ketogenic Diet. We are completely switching fuel sources for most of us. Especially for my clients that struggle with sugar addiction and Type 2 Diabetes.
The following steps will help you ease into a Low Carb Keto diet, and keep you from stressing the body too much:

1. Lower your Carbs Slowly- Going from 300g of Carbs per day to 20g per day will stress the body and make you feel like garbage. Slowly decrease carbs to around the 100g per day mark. Think Vegetable carbs like sweet potatoes, and squash. Get away from the breads, pasta’s, chips, and crackers 1st.
2. Add in enough healthy Fats- Without these healthy fats your just stripping the body of Carbs and Fat which will make you burn up protein as fuel.
3. (after steps 1 and 2) Start Fasting- Start nice and easy, by just pushing off breakfast until 9am, 10am, 11am, etc. Have only black coffee, water, or tea. My Keto Coffee recipe also works really well for becoming Fat adapted as well. When you can push off breakfast farther and farther, until you reach lunch time, and feel totally fine doing it, than your ready to go Keto.
